It's that time of the year again! If you're like me you may be thinking about using a do-it-yourself software package rather then taking it to a preparer. But there is a free alternative for those facing difficulties during this tax season. The American Association of Retired People (AARP) will provide free tax assistance to those with low or middle incomes, focusing on taxpayers age 60 and up. Tax-Aide will be available from 9 a.m.–noon Mondays, Tuesdays and Fridays at the Elk River Activity Center until April 13.
The service is provided on a first-come, first-served basis. Those with complex tax returns will be advised to seek professional guidance.
